"Lodge 49" TV series; main titles pitch.
In an unremarkable part of town, a remarkable story unfolds; the story of the Order of the Lynx, and of a hapless young drifter who finds himself at its mysterious heart.
My treatment tells of the silent, concealed forces at work in a seemingly commonplace neighbourhood. Gritty black and white photography is transmuted and dignified by spreading gold, alluding to the search for alchemy that is the backstory of the series. I also draw on Medieval influences since the Order itself is steeped in traditions of, and allusions to, the Middle Ages.
The frames seek to allude to the fantastical and heroic behind the prosaic facade of the everyday. The ordinary man waiting for his bus may have the heart of a knight, the unassuming doorway could be the portal to a mysterious hidden life.
Below are frames from my pitch book, designed for Prologue Films, summer 2017.
