Following the title sequences I created for the documentaries, "Race For the White House" and "The Kennedys", I was approached by Raw TV to devise a title sequence for the "The Bush Years: Family. Duty. Power." For an era so distinct from the Kennedys, the client and I were keen to pursue a very different style and feel. In a period where TV was becoming a focal point, this felt like a good place to begin. Meanwhile, public idealism and optimism was on the wane and a darker tone felt more fitting.
Below are frames from my initial concept book from which we developed those which we felt were the most impactful and resonant of the era and themes.
The sequence draws on the wealth of beautiful archive material that the client had access to. Since the bulk of this was still photography, one of the major challenges of the project was to attempt to bring authentic movement into this material.
